- Through the change of nature in society including their age, income, ethnicity, demand and geographic location there has been a development and change in Arnott’s products. 97% of Australian homes have Arnott’s products. Today people demand for:
- Convenience foods, that are quick and easy- all biscuits are readily available and there is a variety of choice and package size.
- Softer and high nutrient products for the elderly- biscuits such as the SAO crackers are good for the elderly community as they’re soft to eat and can be nutritious with salad on top.
- Health and dietary foods as many people are concerned with the rapid increase of health issues such as obesity-products such as Jatz, SAO, snack right fruit slice, Salada and Vita Weat grain snacks are good products in small quantities for a healthy snack. Jatz claims it's 97% fat free, Salada is 60 % less saturated fat and Vita Weat is 100% natural.
- Single serves are on demand for snacks to replace meals and also for those who live alone- many Arnott’s products now come in single serves such as melting moments, shapes, Tim tams, tiny teddy and other types of biscuits.
- People are influenced from different cultures and there is a demand for choice in flavours- shapes now come in different flavours to broaden the cultural flavours. Some flavours include: nacho cheese, Italian wood fire pizza, Texan BBQ, Mediterranean feta and herb and honey soy chicken.
- Organic foods as consumers are a lot more aware of chemicals and pesticides that affect the ingredients in foods- Arnott’s is now looking at organic products such as the assorted biscuits and vita Weat.
- Family packs as they’re more convenient to give to each family member-families are able to go to the supermarket and buy a bag of packets of tiny teddies or shapes as well as a family size of assorted biscuits for the family to share.
- Environmental friendly products and packaging as people are more educated on the effects on the environment. Arnott’s packaging is recyclable, cartons contain 95% of recycled content, recycling label is placed on the back of the packaging and they’ve reduced pallets by 27, 000 while transporting the same number of finished goods. They’ve eliminated 130 tonnes of plastic packaging a year, 12 tonnes of steel packaging a year and 600 tonnes of cardboard packaging a year.
